DECC are a company that provide demolition, environmental, remediation and civil contracting services for Property Developers, Government Authorities and more. For one of their internal demolition projects, DECC approached RVT Group to seek support with diesel exhaust fumes they were experiencing underground in a basement.
ChallengeDECC had diesel machinery operating in an underground basement of a heritage building and were having issues with diesel particulates and carbon monoxide making the area unsafe for operators and workers in the area. Exposure to diesel particulate fumes can be extremely damaging to the health of workers on site, due to the very high risk of carbon monoxide poisoning and therefore DECC reached out to RVT to offer a solution to this issue.
SolutionRVT installed two Ventex Centrifugal Fan 600S and a Ventex Centrifugal Fan 450S to ensure an even spread of clean air across the basement and provide the correct level of dilution needed to ensure exposure limits were at a safe level to guarantee the health of all workers. Diesel particulate filters were also fixed onto the exhausts of plant machinery to capture and filter diesel fumes; removing approximately 99% of the particulate emissions.
