Case Study Overview

Brisbane’s $6.3 billion Cross River Rail project is set to transform public transport in the city.

It includes a new 10.2km railway line, featuring 5.9km of tunnelling and the addition of four new underground stations. It’s a massive infrastructure project due for completion in 2026.

CPB engaged RVT Group to deliver fresh, clean air for its station boxes located underground.

Challenge

Large scale tunnelling infrastructure projects can bring significant health risks. Ventilation needs to be a key consideration in ensuring a safe worksite. The accumulation of exhaust gases and significant distances to fresh air can be a challenge.

For the Cross River Rail project, the operation of diesel machinery, and the fumes and gases which they create, create potential health risks for workers if not controlled.

Solution

RVT Group has customised a two step approach to help ensure the health of onsite workers. Ventex 600S transfers air into the basements and confined spaces from above the ground.

The 600S is a powerful centrifugal fan, designed to provide very high airflow through long duct runs, making it ideal for tunnel usage.

The Ventex 800M circulates the fresh air to every corner down below, ensuring air toxicity and staleness in the air is avoided. This particular floor fan is perfect for any requirements requiring strong air flow and it brings the added benefit of a cooling effect.
