Controlling noise levels on-site: Soundex Cutting Enclosure

How often do you walk onto a construction site and are suddenly surprised, or alarmed, by the loud sound of someone carrying out loud cutting works?

This is a real problem because all too often, the people carrying out the cutting works have all the correct PPE, whereas others, in the environment, around them, do not.

This is the Soundex Cutting Enclosure - which is a 2.5-metre square noise-reducing station. From the outside, you will see it is weatherproof, it has strip door sections on each side to feed through long lengths, wheels for easy one-man movement, and a strip door for personnel entrance at the front.

Once inside you will note that it comes with a cutting bench, interior light and a port for an optional dust extraction system if the material you are cutting requires it.

While most cutting activities are in excess of 100 decibels, you will generally see a reduction of around 30 decibels when compared with the sound levels outside of the enclosure

The enclosure is made up of a lightweight aluminium frame that can be comfortably assembled by two people, [and] sound deadening covers which are a fire retardant material and water-resistant.

The whole thing can be assembled complete in less than 10 minutes and folded down to fit on a single pallet making it easily transported to and from site or to different sections of your site.
